Being Dutch in America means your children are asked to share their heritage on multiple occasions at elementary school. When I was no longer able to avoid the expected Dutch hats and wooden shoes anymore, I made them out of paper and put the instructions online.
Since, the sites have not only been used by children talking about their Dutch roots at school, but grownups too, as well as girl scouts who chose the Netherlands for their “International” day.
